16 October was #WorldFoodDay which coincided with my 42nd birthday. The older you get, the less of a fuss birthdays become (well for me anyway). I see it an an opportunity to give back. World Food Day 2019 celebrated by packing meals with Tastic & RAH Africa.

This very important day, commemorates the launch of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN. Rise Against Hunger raises awareness about food scarcity. The main focus is to ensure that food is provided. Poor and disadvantaged communities without access to proper nutrition. The plight of 870 million undernourished people in the world has not gone unnoticed.

Nations gathered on the 16th of October to celebrate world food day. The packing meals in an attempt to highlight the seriousness of the matter. I am beyond grateful to be part of the people who volunteered their time.

Tastic Rice Support World Food Day 2019

The target for 2019 is to provide 5 million meals. Global organisation Rise Against Hunger has the support of Tastic Rice to ensure thousands of families have a meal. I helped pack meals as my contribution towards 67 minutes for Mandela Day. It is such an awesome initiative and the vibe is always incredibly positive.

The Tastic brand team, along with influencers and other Tiger Brands employees and media came together to support #WFD2019. They gave their time to make a real contribution to address hunger by packing 12 725 meals in 60 minutes.

Tastic Rice has committed to provide enough rice to pack 5 million meals in 2019. Early Childhood Development Centres across South Africa will be the recipient of these meals.

I sincerely hope I get the opportunity again to make my contribution to such a worthy cause. Thank you Tastic for ensuring I celebrated World Food Day 2019 by making a difference.
