Love is the air – Self Acceptance = Self Love

by | Feb 9, 2021 | Women Hub | 0 comments

Love is in the air this month, but before you love anyone else … you need to first love yourself. To truly love yourself you will first need to accept yourself.

Self Acceptance = Self Love

Self-love, defined as “love of self” or “regard for one’s own happiness or advantage“, has been conceptualized as a basic human necessity.

Selfacceptance on the other hand is the awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses, the realistic (yet subjective) appraisal of one’s talents, capabilities and general worth.

To love ourselves unconditionally, we first need to accept ourselves through every season. The good, the bad and the ugly, but as women we are our own worst critics. Probably our biggest challenge we face as women, is allowing ourselves to be flawed and imperfect, yet allowing ourselves to accept that we are more than enough. That no matter what life has thrown your way, you my dear are a beautiful disaster.

Love is the air so spoil yourself with the gorgeous Beautiful Disaster bracelet.

Valentines Day Expectations

Valentine’s Day often comes with a lot of pressure and expectation about what the day should look like. Whether or not you are in a romantic relationship or not, everyone deserves to be loved. We have been conditioned to look outside of ourselves for all of the really important things in life, particularly that rather elusive unconditional love. I strongly believe that until we become our own constant source of love, no relationship will ever be enough.

Make it a Valentine’s Day of Self-Love becaue love is in the air

This Valentine’s Day, consider putting your efforts and energy into the relationship that you have with yourself. Gift yourself with the privilege of the things that you wish to receive or experience on this or any day. It’s magical how when we start valuing ourselves fully, the people in our lives naturally start to show up in a different way by also recognizing our worth. We need to set the bar high and maintain it. Allow yourself to bask in the glory that is you. Here are few rules I live by in my journey of self-love.

self love is self acceptance
Love is in the air even if you are a singleton.
  • Prioritize yourself  – You can’t pour from an empty cup, so make yourself a priority.
  • Be kind to yourself – Excuse yourself for all the times that you may have lost a significant piece of yourself to find another. Deeply forgive your past mistakes and misjudgments. Its a vital step in loving yourself.
  • Practice mindfulness – Check-in with yourself daily. Understand what it is to that you need to set yourself free.
  • Daily affirmation – Start each day by setting a daily affirmation. This sets the tone for the rest of the day and will help you be more mindful,
  • Choose your tribe – Your vibe attracts your tribe and no {wo}man is an island. The dynamic between women can be rather volatile, but when you find your tribe hold them close. Good friends are brutally honest and help us evolve in the most incredible way.
  • Your health is your wealth– Being selective about what food you choose to nourish your body with, is one of the most important forms of self love. Know how your food choices affect you and select the ones that create the highest form of energy, comfort and delight in your body. Basically, eat whatever the f*ck you want but in moderation.
  • All the pretty things – Your outer environment has great influence over our internal wellbeing. It has direct effect on your energy levels too. From pretty spaces to pretty things, your deserve all the prettiness in the world. So, go on and spoil yourself.
  • Gratitude journal – I am a firm believe in living a life of gratitude. Counting your blessings daily helps create more appreciation and gratitude for yourself. It also sees your through the tough times.
  • Take yourself out on a date – Get dressed up and take yourself out on an outing for one. Drop the guilt and spoil yourself girl. I do this monthly. Just me, at my fav restaurant with a trashy magazine undeniably fills my cup.

Love is in the air and its all about you

Never underestimate the power and value in nurturing the relationship that you have with yourself. Self-love breeds confidence, success and inner peace. With it comes the great power to breath positivity into every corner of your life and is the key to creating healthy and lasting relationships with others.

Don’t forget to love yourself through every season, because self-love is the greatest revolution.
