New Jozi Restaurant Ethos is scheduled to open its doors in August and boy, are we in for a treat. Ethos restaurant is set to take Jozi by storm. The already well established restaurateur, Chris Tatsakis has big plans for their new restaurant based in the heart of Morningside, Sandton, Johannesburg, which boasts a philosophy of Mediterranean cuisine. Ethos restaurant is the sister company to The Rock Diner & The Rock Design Quarter.
ETHOS meaning the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its attitudes and aspirations.
This is the inspiration behind the stellar new ETHOS restaurant. Last week Thursday I had the absolute pleasure of attending the first of many media launches set to be hosted by Ethos Restaurant. We were taken on a Mediterranean experience filled with architecture, incredible cuisine, fine wine and warm hospitality. It also allowed us a sneak peak into what has been conceptualized with regard to the interiors of the restaurant, as well as the Mediterranean inspired food and overall experience!

Listening to Chris Tatsakis and his son Gio (19) talk about the new restaurant and their plans, made it evidently clear that Ethos is indeed more than just a restaurant. It is a story filled with love, passion and warmth. It about the sharing of a heritage in the hopes of bringing people together. It Is a story about family.
We arrived at The Rock Design Quarter where we were treated to breakfast and mimosas. Not a bad way to start a day to be honest. Then we embarked onto a bus where we were transported to the building site of what’s soon to be the home of Ethos.
We were walked through the layout while we sipped on bubbly in anticipation of what’s to come. I’m going to skip the details and rather let you see and experience Ethos in all its glory once it’s officially opened. With the information we received, I seriously doubt that words could do justice to Ethos.

We then hopped back onto the bus and made our way back to the Design quarter where we were treated to a culinary 7 course food and wine pairing. The rather lucious menu has me counting down the days to the official opening. It was an absolute treat with the Octopus Salad, Cauliflower Steak, Mushroom Risotto and Steak Platter being my absolute standout dishes. All in all it was fabulous day spent with fabulous people. Expectations are incredibly high as we await the opening of Ethos.
“ETHOS has been a lifetime in the making and it’s more than just another restaurant”, says founder Chris Tatsakis. It’s an experience of the very Mediterranean soul that put us on this path in the first place. That is ETHOS – a philosophy of food.
ETHOS will be opening its doors this August and it certain it will be an experience worth waiting for. Thank you for hosting me Ethos and for a day of indulgences
