2 months ago I left South Africa to start a new life in the United Arab Emirates. Part of the big move was deciding what to bring with and what to leave behind. My DreamBox didn’t make the cut and I was a tad heartbroken that the craft cupboard I waited 2 decades to buy, wasn’t going with. But every cloud has a silver lining, and our move created the opportunity to upgrade from a cupboard to a room. So here is my new Craft Room Reveal.
Mom’s Escape – MY CRAFTING ROOM REVEAL
I decided to use the extra room downstairs to create a tiny sanctuary for myself. I’m always prioritizing my family and I honestly want to spend more time investing in myself. So a craft room was not negotiable. This room is perfectly located away from everyone and everything, so I’m secretly hoping my family doesn’t find me when I do escape.
Ikea for the win
I love me some Ikea and I know you do too. For years I’ve scrolled through Pinterest planning an Ikea craft room, but Ikea is very new to SA (I believe there is a store in Midrand). So the move was the perfect opportunity to make my Ikea Pinterest Dreams a reality.

Once I knew what I had, it was time to furnish the room in a way that optimized the limited space. And after much research and window online shopping, Ikea really was the best solution. Their range is interchangeable, design is clean and sleek and the quality is pretty awesome. Plus they deliver and assemble. I went with a corner desk which was perfect as it created more space as I plan to do my blogging here as well. I then found an additional desk with storage that had the same width to extend the length of one side of the corner unit.

Ikea SKÅDIS Pegboard Range
Mae alsalama (goodbye) messy clutter and ahlan (hello) craft room goals! The Ikea Skadis Pegboard Range is a fantastic way to avoid clutter chaos in your craft room and home. The wall storage is easy to mount and is a great way to infuse your personality into your craft room. With a variety of accessories, no two craft rooms should ever look the same. The range is available in white, grey and beige and as you can see, grey it is for me. There is the Uppspel range which is available in black but it has more of a gamer feel to it. Planning on adding that to Sky’s gaming set-up in his room instead.

Lastly I has to get my hands on a cubicle with storage boxes. Its ideal to store 30x30cm cardstock just by the way. Ans the space as the top doesn’t go to waste as Iven used it for my Cricut Maker 3 and printer. The grey boxes actually came with the cubicle so that was awesome.
